When we first met with the owners of this beautiful home they were clear that they wanted to transform their property and make it work in a way that both met with the demands of their modern day life and was also aesthetically to their taste. Open plan living was at the centre of the design brief so that the family could spend time together whilst cooking, doing homework and eating. For this reason we designed a large kitchen diner in place of the existing cramped galley kitchen and seperate diner. Additional bedroom space and an extra bathroom was also required so we designed a loft conversion that incorporated both. Within a week of completing the site measured survey the architecture drawings were complete and presented to the clients. They were then able to make changes before we submitted the plans to the local planning department. Most lofts and house extensions are within the scope of permitted development rights granted to homeowners as typically are house extensions. To obtain the go ahead from the council takes a short while the actual application is little bit simpler but it is always good to have a lawful certificate or granted planning permission from the local council. We also completed structural drawings and party wall agreements on behalf of the homeowners'.

The loft conversion and house extension project in Highgate N6 North London started with the building of a temporary roof out of scaffolding "called a tin roof" to protect the internal spaces from rain and wind and to allow continuous work on site. The next step was taking the rear roof off and supporting the front roof to accommodate the loft conversion.

The house extension included structural alterations in order to make the beautiful open plan living space. New roofs were installed and bi-fold doors to bring in plenty of natural light to provide a view of the newly landscaped garden. A new kitchen was designed by one of the suppliers we regularly use and installed by LCCL construction.
To finish off the project we added a 10 year structural guarantee and a 12 months workmanship guarantee for assurances.

This house has had a total refurbishment done including the loft conversion. This involved full plumbing and electrical work, structure including opening up the rear and box beams. Finishing is in white color with dark floors and corner bi-fold doors. The patio was installed at the same level as the kitchen floor with recessed tracks for the doors creating a seamless inside/outside feel.
